Catch the Little Foxes

My head is bursting with thoughts
As I scramble to seek the One thought I want.
My mind is bustling about
Every time I wish it to be still.
It seems that when I want it most,
It's a tormenting battle.
I plead with it to silence,
But it mocks me with taunts and unnessesary needs.
Oh that I could switch it on and off as I please.
I would simply leave the switch off
And let Jesus have the preeminence.
But could it be so simple?
Is there really a solution to this horror?
Should I resist these thoughts,
Scream at them to go away whenever they draw near?
Perhaps I should stop screaming and clawing
And lean on the One thought I desire.
Is it not Him that I so long to be captured by?
Is it not Him that can hold my gaze for hours on end?
Why should it take me so long to reach my Beloved;
For when I call on His name, He answers,
When I cry," where can I find You,"
He replies simply and precisely," here."
If He tells me,
why would He not lead me.
Lead me to the place of Onething.
Take these eyes that dart to and fro
Replace them with eyes set upon the One they glance over
Yet long so deeply for.
Dove's eyes are my desire.
I long to be captured by Something other than any other.
Catch the little foxes
So that I may see.
